BLEED YOUR HEART OUT- Chris Cornell

Slaves and Bulldozers

Every word I said is what I mean
Every word I said is what I mean
Everything I gave is what I need
Virgin eyes and dirty looks
On what I have and why I took
Counting all the hands I shook
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
Now I know why you've been shaking
So bleed your heart out
There's no more rides for free
Bleed your heart out
I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've shown is what I feel
Buying lies and stealing jokes
And laughing every time I choke
Biding all the time you took
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
Now I know why you've been taken
So bleed your heart out
There's no more rides for free, yeah
Bleed your heart out
I said what's in it for me, what's in it for me
What's in it for, what's in it for
Every word I said is what I mean
Everything I gave is what I need
Everything I've held is what I've freed
Everything I've shown is what I feel
Virgin eyes and dirty looks
On what I have and why I took
Counting all the hands I shook
Now I know why you've been shaking
Buying lies and stealing jokes
And laughing every time I choke
Biding all the time you took
Now I know why you've been taken
(Now I know why you've been taken)

Chris Cornell we hardly knew ye.
Last night, he hung himself in Detroit, said reports. I was just looking at the ticket stub I have in my bathroom when they open for Voivod.
Cornell had a big ’90’ on his chest because it was, finally, January 1990. It was a black shirt with a white number in a white circle.

This was January 1990. We had not a fucking care in the world. The Seattle scene wasn't a 'thing' yet. Mudhoney and other bands were making a lot of noise in the Pacific Northwest.

I turned 20 that year I got my first apartment. My buddy, Jim, turned me onto the EP  ‘FOPP’ when it came out on cassette.

“What is this craziness!!??’’

Soundgarden was differently tweaked Rock and it even had a peculiar off-tuned nature to it. To the core, it was hard. Black Sabbath was hinted at in their songs but they had a unique sound for sure.

The vocals of Cornell stole the album from the other players.
They got signed and they put out “Louder than love’’ and eventually ‘Badmotorfinger’ which sprung them into being headliners.

There was an innovative soul expressing himself with those unreachable screams. His songs were eventually covered by Johnny Cash and Paul Anka. Seriously.

This was grunge.

Grunge was being invented.

Seattle meant Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice in chains, Nirvana, Mudhoney, Mother Love Bone and the like.

It was a natural progression from the LA Guns /Guns-n-Roses Los Angeles Rock sound.

Rusty Cage
You wired me awake
And hit me with a hand of broken nails
You tied my lead and pulled my chain
To watch my blood begin t boil
But I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Yeah I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Too cold to start a fire
I'm burning diesel burning dinosaur bones
I'll take the river down to still water and ride a pack of dogs
But I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
Hit like a Phillips head into my brain
It's gonna be too dark to sleep again
Cutting my teeth on bars and rusty chains
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
When the forest burns along the road
Like God's eyes in my headlights
When the dogs are looking for their bones
And it's raining ice picks on your steel shore
I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run
I'm gonna break I'm gonna break my
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

His final performance was last night. RIP

Something finally did him in.

He looked exhausted and somewhat distant.

I'm not saying I can hear what was in his heart as he was singing ‘Slaves and Bulldozers’ but the words are there. And try as he might, he could just about get his voice to reach its own height. It LOOKS physically draining to vocalize the way he did last night.

The crowd ate up his swan song.

There was huge acceptance of this incarnation of Soundgarden. Little did anyone know he would not leave Detroit alive.

Pleasure with his own performance could not be detected.

Chris Cornell was just one musician to inspire many others with his innovative arrangements and howling pleas. I hope he enjoyed his life.

I brag about seeing Soundgarden in Poughkeepsie back then in 1990 and I still brag about seeing a very young Chris Cornell today.

Into the Void (Sealth)
Chief Seattle alternate lyrics

How can you buy or sell the sky
Or the warmth of the land it's strange to us
We don't own the freshness of the air
Or the sparkle of the water
How can you buy them from us
The white man doesn't understand our ways
For he's a stranger who comes in the night
And takes from the land just what he needs

Oh yeah

He treats his brothers like his enemies
When it's completed he moves on
He leaves his father's grave and his birthright
His birthright is forgotten
The air is precious to the red man
For all things share the same breath
The white man won't notice the air he breathes

Like a man dying for many days

All right now

The whites must treat the beasts of his land
As his brothers not his enemies
Tell me what is man without the beasts
I'll bet he will die of loneliness

One thing we know that the white man will
We know our god is the same god
You may think you wish to own him
Own him as you wish to own our land
But he is the body of man
And the earth is precious to him
Continue to contaminate your bed
And you will suffocate in your waste

DESKTOP DIARY

######################

May 16, 2017

I’m gonna hook you up.

I’m able to scan and post HERE high resolution pictures that come and go in and out of storage via my desk top.

Below, I will be posting bits of the past few months as they pertain to the continuing story of Mike Porco and his good name.

Personal photos with a diary entry describing.

The more Mike Porco's name is brought into the modern day by his well-known friends, the closer we get to seeing Gerde’s Folk City receiving proper and like kind accolades from new generations of music fans around the world. Mike Porco can claim that we was ‘big in Japan.’ Not many bar owners in New York can say that his their name was printed in magazines around the world always referenced as Bob Dylan’s legal guardian.

Oops! Did I say that online? Have we actually seen Mike Porco referred to that way? Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.

Only the accurate tales spoken about Bobby Dylan include my grandfather as being his sponsor having legal guardianship of young Mr. Zimmerman until he was 21.

Many-a bird with downy wings
Has Mike nursed over the years.

So here now are some recently found or afforded to us publicly on the networks, pictures that tell ya more. Some captions, some description.

MENTION of POSITIVELY PORCO:
The film on Gerde's is taking longer than expected to fully incubate. Be patient.

Good luck making a better 'last' album. His difficulty breathing was recorded.
But David Bowie gave everything he had left to make
BLACKSTAR. Listen. Ultimate confidence
and swagger was also recorded.
